Newcomer Mishmi Takin Announces Launch of Fall Gear That Performs Where Others Fail

Breathable, Waterproof in Extreme and Temperate Climates, Gear Available Earlier at Incentive Pricing through March CrowdFunder

TAMPA, FL. (PRWEB) February 15, 2016 -- While hiking in the eastern Himalayas, Kapil Dev Singh realized that his high end waterproof gear was not performing. Soaked but inspired, he discovered, accidentally, his next career – founding a line of highly breathable and water repellent gear that could withstand the rigors of the tropics and still outperform in temperate climates. He will launch his line of high performance footwear and hard and soft shell jackets this fall with earliest delivery available through a March crowdfunder.

"Almost all hiking boots and most shells on the market today feature a 'wet system’ membrane," explained MIT-Trained Founder and CEO Kapil Dev Singh. "A wet system membrane involves an inherently slow threestep process of absorption, diffusion, and evaporation, triggered by condensation on the PU membrane. But when the humidity outside is as high as inside, the 'wet system' does not work and breathability becomes zero. In comparison, the dry systems employed by Mishmi Takin are microporous and air permeable, resulting in immediate expulsion of water vapor, a slight air exchange and a big difference in user comfort."

Don’t Get Wet Before Drying Out A wet system membrane involves an inherently slow three-step process of absorption, diffusion, and evaporation, triggered by condensation on the PU membrane. Comparatively, the dry systems employed by Mishmi Takin are microporous and air permeable, resulting in immediate expulsion of water vapor, a slight air exchange and, ultimately, comfort.

“With the traditional PU membrane, one must get wet before getting dry, said Dev Singh. "So even in temperate climates there is a period of discomfort and, in rain or high humidity, it shuts down completely.”

East Meets West in Styling and Performance Mishmi Takin merges the exuberant style of the tropics with high performance technologies to create products that are at home in both the mountains and city. Its products are ideal for adventure travel, hiking, mountaineering and urban exploration and can outperform in both temperate and tropical environments:

Here’s a round-up of next year’s footwear, named for Eastern Himalayan regions:

The Kameng features a 100 percent waterproof and extremely breathable eVent membrane and a water resistant Cordura and suede upper. A Vibram Megagrip rubber compound and Vibram Gironda outsole provide super grip on wet surfaces. The stretch heel offers comfort for descents and the Ortho-Lite footbed is soft and cushy. An engraved shank and high profile cupsole provide stability on uneven surfaces and an abrasion resistant heel cup and toe rand offer protection. Available in Rust/Orange, Black/Grey and Birch/Green. $230.

Because it is more lightweight and flexible than Kameng, the Lushai works in city or country. It also features an eVent membrane; Vibram Megagrip sole; OrthoLite footbed; EVA midsole; and rubber toe rand. Available in Grey/Dirty Yellow, Brown/Brick Red and Brown/Chocolate. $210.

The most lightweight of the trio, the Jampui was designed with a trip to town in mind, but features all the technical bells and whistles needed for a high performance hike, including: an eVent membrane; Vibram Megagrip sole; an anatomically cushioned footbed; EVA midsole; and an abrasion resistant toe rand. Available in Blue Jean, Birch/Bright Rose, Black/ Dirty Yellow, and Grey/Dirty Yellow. $190.

Hard shells (Each name is in honor of an African national park.)

Virunga is the top of the line, technical shell with: windproof, 100% waterproof, direct venting eVent fabric for maximum breathability; laser cut vents; pit zips; three-layer fabric for durability; a helmet compatible hood and YKK Aquagard Vislon Zippers. Available in Pink for women, and Steel Grey for men. $375.

Waterproof, windproof, and lightweight the Garamba is designed for highly aerobic activities like trail running with an eVent membrane; laser cut vents; pit zips; two pack pockets for easy access when carrying a backpack; and YKK Aquaguard Vislon Zippers. Available in Blue for men and women. $270.

The Nimba is 100 % windproof; waterproof and features nanoporous coating for breathability. Available in Chocolate Brown for women, Lime for men. $175.

Sapo is a versatile jacket for the intrepid explorer or weekend warrior. It is windproof and waterproof with air permeable nano porous coating; pit zips for breathability; two-layer fabric; and an adjustable hood. Available in Purple or Grey for women and Grey or Blue for men. $190.

Soft Shells (Soft shell products take the namesakes of peaks in the Andes, lying in the tropics.)

Wind and water resistant, with handwarmer pockets, the extremely breathable Misti features YKK zippers; pit zips; an adjustable hood; Velcro cuffs; and a hem cinch cord. Purple/Peach and Teal/Lime for women and Canopy Green/Chocolate Brown and Chocolate Brown/Dirty Yellow for men. $150.

The Qaras features three-layer waterproof, windproof, four -way stretch fabric with high loft fleece, for low activity, city use or a very cold day. Other offerings include: YKK zippers; pit zips; an adjustable hood; Velcro cuffs; and a hem cinch cord. Available in Dirty Yellow/Chocolate and Black/Brick Red for men and women. $180.

Designed for highly aerobic activities in cold wet climates, the Chani is a waterproof, windproof, three-layer, four-way stretch jacket. It features: lightweight textured fleece lining; water resistant tape seams; Napolean pockets; pit zips; an adjustable helmet compatible hood; Aquaguard Vision Zippers; Velcro adjustable cuffs; and a hem cinch cord. Available in Nimbus Grey/Tomato. $250
